The Maruti Ertiga CNG has been launched in the country at Rs 8.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The CNG version is only available in the Ertiga’s mid-spec VXI variant, while it will not be offered in other variants, namely LXI, ZXI and top-spec ZXI+. It attracts a premium of just over Rs 70,000 compared to the standard petrol-powered VXI variant, which is priced at Rs 8.16 lakh.

Unlike the standard petrol variant, the CNG-equipped version doesn’t get Suzuki’s mild-hybrid tech. When running on CNG, the Ertiga’s 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 92PS and 122Nm, which is 13PS and 16Nm less when compared to the petrol-powered version. It has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 26.20km/kg and comes with a 60-litre tank of (water equivalent) besides the regular 45-litre petrol tank. The equipment list of the CNG variant is identical to the standard VXI model.

The Ertiga’s VXI CNG variant comes equipped with a multi-information display but it doesn’t use a multicoloured TFT as offered in the petrol variant. It also gets a few extra features in the second row over the base-spec LXI variant such as AC adjust, foldout armrest and an accessory socket with smartphone storage space. The VXI trim also gets keyless entry, an audio system with steering mounted controls, day-night IRVM, power folding and adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. Maruti offers the Ertiga with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchor as standard safety features.

Surge in sales of Maruti Suzuki’s Next Gen Ertiga has helped the urban MPV achieve the pole position in the segment. The Next Gen Ertiga is the only MPV in the country to offer factory-fitted CNG option. The Next Gen Ertiga is high on safety. It is equipped with safety features such as dual airbags, high speed warning alert, front seat belt with pre-tensioners and force limiters, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, ABS with EBD and brake assist and reverse parking sensors as standard fitment across all variants.
The Next Gen Ertiga is longer (4,395 mm), wider (1,735 mm) and taller (1,690 mm). The interior of the car has been designed keeping in mind the comfort of all the passengers. The third-row reclining seats, the extra head room and the cooling cup holders make the journey comfortable. The boot space has been increased by almost 55% with three rows up and about 9% with two rows folded down.
