Jeep Compass 4xe and Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid unveiled in Europe

– Compass 4xe and Renegade 4xe will go on sale in Europe in September

– Gets a 59bhp electric motor and an 11.4kWh battery pack

– Combined output of 190bhp and 240bhp, depending on the variants

Jeep has unveiled the Compass 4xe and the Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid models in Europe. Both the models will go on sale in Europe in September 2020 and will be offered in three trims – Limited, S and Trailhawk.

The hybrid powertrain in the Compass 4xe and the Renegade 4xe uses a 59bhp electric motor that’s placed between the rear axles and is paired to a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol motor. The system produces 187bhp and 237bhp of power, depending on the variant. An 11.4kWh battery pack enables the SUVs to run 50km in full-electric mode. Both the cars can reach a top-speed on 130kmph in full-electric mode and 200kmph in hybrid mode.

The battery pack can be charged on the go or via the bundled easyWallbox home charger. Owners can also use the more advanced Connected Wallbox charger, or a public charge point. What’s more, all the electric components are waterproof and the SUVs come with metal under-body protection. Water wading depth for both the cars stands at 500mm.

Both, the Jeep Compass 4xe and the Renegade 4xe deliver a fuel economy of close to 50kmpl and emit less than 50 g/km of CO2 in hybrid mode. Both the models feature five driving modes – Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand, Snow and Rock (specific to the Trailhawk version).

Visually, both the SUVs are identical in design to the regular versions. However, the 4xe models feature blue colouring on the front and rear ‘Jeep’ badges, as well as the 4xe, Compass and Renegade emblems.Jeep Compass Photos618 Images

Discounts of up to Rs 85,000 on SUVs in July

Car manufacturers across the board are offering significant discounts on new SUV purchases in July 2020. These benefits are available in the form of cash discounts, exchange bonus and corporate discounts.

The Jeep Compass can be availed with a cash discount of up to Rs 40,000, exchange bonus of Rs 30,000 and a corporate discount of Rs 15,000. The Mahindra XUV300 is offered with an exchange bonus of Rs 25,000, corporate discount of Rs 5,000 and accessories worth Rs 5,000. Additionally, the petrol variants receive a cash discount of Rs 30,000. The Tata Harrier automatic variant is available with a cash discount of Rs 25,000, exchange bonus of Rs 40,000 and a corporate discount of Rs 15,000.

Discounts on the Renault Duster include a cash discount and exchange bonus of Rs 25,000 each as well as a corporate discount of Rs 20,000. The Ford EcoSport is available with a cash discount of Rs 20,000, exchange bonus of Rs 15,000 and a corporate discount of up to Rs 10,000. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza can be availed with an exchange bonus of Rs 20,000.

The Mahindra XUV500 is offered with an exchange bonus of Rs 39,000 and a corporate discount of Rs 9,000. All variants excluding the S5 trim of the Mahindra Scorpio can be availed with an exchange bonus of Rs 25,000 and a corporate discount of Rs 5,000. Discounts on the Tata Nexon are limited to a corporate discount of Rs 5,000. Jeep Compass Night Eagle limited edition teased ahead of launch

– Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition is expected to be launched in the coming weeks

– The model will feature blacked-out elements for the exterior and interior

Jeep India has teased a new limited edition version of the Compass, known as the Night Eagle. A single teaser image on the brand’s social media channels reveals the ‘Night Eagle’ badging on the right side of the boot-lid.

The Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition, which was revealed internationally last year, receives a black paintjob along with several blacked-out elements such as the 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lamp surrounds, grille, window line and badging.

Inside, the new Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition is expected to come equipped with Gloss Black trims across the dashboard and black upholstery. Feature highlights of the model could include an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and keyless entry with push-button start.

Engine options on the upcoming Jeep Compass Night Eagle edition are likely to include the same 1.4-litre Multi-air turbo-petrol engine and the 2.0-litre Multi-jet diesel engine. Transmission options too might be carried over from the regular version, which includes a six-speed manual unit as standard as well as a seven-speed DCT unit and nine-speed torque converter unit as options for the petrol and diesel variants respectively.Jeep Compass Photos618 Images

1. Visit ‘Book My Jeep’

This online platform from the brand helps buyers choose their desired Jeep SUV model without having to visit the showroom physically. Just log on to bookmyjeep.com and e-book the required vehicle.

2. Choose and book

The Book My Jeep module is a part of Jeep India’s website. It helps buyers choose the powertrain option, right trim, colour and many other details including the location of the customer and other documentation. Customers can pay the booking amount online through various online payment options once the SUV is configured as per his/her requirement.

3. Delivery at home

Post this online booking process, a unique ID is created while linking the customer’s information to its authorised dealer in that city. If needed, the customer will be offered a test drive by a sales representative or explained the further process through a phone or video call. The options of delivering the car can also be discussed as a fully sanitised vehicle will be offered for test drive at the buyer’s doorstep.

India car sales analysed: June 2020

– Car sales improve in June as compared to May 2020

– Maruti Suzuki continues to lead car sales in India 

The Indian automotive industry is gradually picking up pace as car manufacturers gradually resume operations in the country. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, comparing car sales in June 2020 against the sales for the same period in 2019 will be inappropriate. The Indian government has started easing the norms in a phased manner and car sales are picking up gradually. The top three highest selling car manufacturer in the country in June are Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors.

The country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki leads the sales chart for June with 51,274 unit sales in the country. The top three bestsellers for the company in June are Alto (7,298 units), Wagon R (6,972 units) and the Dzire (5,834 units). The other cars from the Maruti Suzuki product line-up such as the CelerioVitara Brezza, Swift and the Baleno have sold over 4,000 units in June. The Eeco van comes close to the 4k sales mark with 3,803 unit sales. Maruti Suzuki’s popular seller in the MPV segment, the Ertiga has witnessed 3,306 unit sales in India last month. Sales for the Ignis, Gypsy and the Ciaz have been low with 1,432 units, 718 units and 553 units respectively. 

Hyundai has retained its second best seller status in India with cumulative sales figure of 21,320 units in June. The recently launched new Hyundai Creta is the bestseller for the company in June. Interestingly, the sales for the Creta have grown by 124 per cent with 7,209 units sold last month as against 3,212 units sold in May. The second and third bestseller for the company in June are the Venue (4,129 units) and the Grand i10 (3,593 units). In the same month, the Hyundai Elite i20 (2,718 units) and the Santro (1,513 units) have managed to rake in decent sales numbers.Interestingly, the company has sold 16 units of the Kona electric SUV. The other cars from the Hyundai portfolio in India, the Aura (1,016 units), Verna (1,083 units), Elantra (15 units) and the Tucson (30 units) have been low selling cars in India in June. 

Tata Motors takes the third position with cumulative sales figure of 11,419 unit sales in June. Tata Tiago is a major contributor to the overall sales with 4,069 units sold in India in June. The Altroz and the Nexon have been the second and third bestseller in India last month with 3,104 unit and 3,040 unit sales, respectively. Tata Motors sold 653 units of the Harrier and 553 units of the Tigor in India in June. 

Mahindra, the popular utility vehicle manufacturer in India takes the fourth position with cumulative sales of 7,959 units. Mahindra Bolero is a key contributor to the overall sales with 3,292 unit sales. In the same period Mahindra sold 2,574 units of the Scorpio and 1,812 units of the XUV300Kia Motors comes close with a cumulative sales figure of 7,275 units in June. The company sold 7,114 units of the Seltos SUV and 161 units of the Carnival luxury MPV last month in India.

Renault has reported 4,634 cumulative unit sales in India last month. The entry-level Kwid has been a popular seller for the company with 2,441 unit sales in June. The Triber has been the second bestseller for the company with 2,064 unit sales. Toyota has reported cumulative sales of 3,866 units in June. This includes 2,085 units of the Innova Crysta, 914 Glanza units and 713 Fortuner units. Interestingly, the company has sold 49 units of the Vellfire flagship MPV. 

Ford has reported cumulative sales of 2,639 units in June. The EcoSport has been a popular seller for the company with 1,212 unit sales in India last month. MG has cumulative sales figure of 2,012 units in India, with the Hector (1,867 units) being a key contributor to the overall sales.   

German car manufacturer, Volkswagen has sold 1,510 cumulative sales unit in the country. The Polo hatchback is a key contributor to overall sales with 1,228 unit sales. Honda has sold only 1,398 cumulative units in India last month. Of these, 658 units are from the WR-V and 585 units are from the City sedan. 

Car manufacturers like Skoda, FCA and Nissan sold witnessed cumulative sales figure of 790 units, 256 units and 576 units, respectively. Overall, the car sales in India is expected to gradually improve in the months to come with relaxation in government norms in India.
