2021 Nissan Kicks unveiled for the American market

-Misses out on the new e-Power series hybrid powertrain

-Expected to launch in India sometime in 2021

The next-generation Nissan Kicks crossover finally makes its debut in the US markets. The first-generation model was introduced in the USA three years ago in 2017 as the entry-level crossover in Nissan’s lineup of SUVs. Kicks was targeted more towards the young and enthusiastic buyers in the country.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Grille

The all-new Kicks features fresh exterior upgrades and added features on the inside. Up front, the model wears a new ‘Double V-motion’ front grille, as the brand likes to call it, with a new set of LED headlights and a redesigned bumper with repositioned housings for the fog lights. On the side are 17-inch alloy wheels and a blacked-out C-pillar creating a floating roof design effect. The rear looks sporty with split tail lamps and an LED light bar across the trunk lid. The bumper is tweaked with a strip of plastic cladding and diffuser-like design at the bottom.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Dashboard

Now, the new generation Kicks will be available overseas in three trims – S, SV, and SR. The base S variant will be equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the higher-spec variants are fitted with a bigger eight-inch system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, seven-inch digital driver display, leather-wrapped steering, heated OVRMs, six-way adjustable driver’s seat, and USB Type-C ports. An optional package for the top-spec SR model offers premium features like heated front seats and steering wheel, Bose stereo system, and Nissan Connect service.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Infotainment System

The Kicks also packs in a decent list of safety and driver-assist tech including standard ten air bags, intelligent cruise control, electronic parking brake, hill start assist, traction control system, and rear door alert. With Nissan Safety Shield, one gets added equipment like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic, pedestrian detection, high beam assist, rear automatic braking, and radar-based blind-spot warning.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Right Rear Three Quarter

Nissan has also introduced three new exterior colour options – Electric Blue Metallic, Scarlet Ember Tintcoat (optional), and Boulder Gray Pearl in addition to the existing ones. Surprisingly, as seen in other international markets, the Kicks is not offered with the new e-power series hybrid powertrain. It continues with the same 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 120bhp and 154Nm of torque controlled by a CVT transmission as standard. Expect the new Nissan Kicks to reach the Indian shores sometime next year with a different set of drivetrain options and a shortened list of features and safety tech. Nissan Kicks Facelift₹ 10.00 – 15.00 LakhEstimated PriceGet Offers from Dealer

2021 Nissan Kicks to debut in USA on 8 December

-To feature Nissan’s new e-Power range-extended electric powertrain

-Likely to launch in India next year

Nissan is all set to introduce the Kicks facelift in the American markets on 8 December. Having launched the crossover in Japan, Thailand and Indonesia earlier this year, the United States will be the fourth country to be offered with the facelift under the company’s Nissan Next program. The new Kicks is a key model for the Japanese car maker and specific details concerning the updates will be revealed in the coming days.

Nissan Kicks Left Front Three Quarter

The teaser image shared on the brand’s social media page does not disclose any precise details. Since the model is already launched in other countries, we have a fair idea as to the appearance of the upcoming model. The Kicks facelift will wear a new face with a massive V-shaped grille surrounded by chrome borders, slim LED headlights and vertically placed housings for the fog lights. On the side are plastic claddings for the bulged wheel arches and a blacked-out C-pillar for the floating roof effect. On the back are the boomerang-shaped tail lamps, black cladding carried over from the side and tweaked bumpers giving the car an overall refreshed look.

Nissan Kicks Dashboard

Not much is known about the new interiors of the facelift model, but going by the internationally launched versions, we expect it to get a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, dual-tone color for the dashboard and door pads, updated infotainment system and electric parking brake.

Nissan Kicks Right Rear Three Quarter

The highlight of the new Kicks will be the introduction of the e-Power series-hybrid powertrain. The proven 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will source the power for a 1.57 kWh battery positioned under the front seats. The main powerplant will be an electric motor with 95 kWh battery putting out 127 bhp and 260Nm of torque. There is no official word on the new Kicks arrival to India soon. But, looking at the car maker’s streak of new car launches around the world, Nissan might just bring the Kicks facelift to our soil sometime next year.Nissan Kicks₹ 9.50 Lakh onwardsAvg. Nissan Kicks e-Power facelift launched in Thailand

– Thai-spec Nissan Kicks priced at an equivalent of Rs 21 lakh (approx.)

– Features major updates to its fascia, including new LED headlamps

– Gets Nissan’s e-Power series hybrid powertrain

Nissan has launched the all-new Kicks e-Power facelift in Thailand at an introductory price of 8,89,000 Baht (INR 21 lakh approx.). In Thailand, it is available in four trims – S, E, V and VL. This, essentially, also marks the global debut of the updated mid-size SUV.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Exterior

With the facelift, the Kicks is in-tune with the latest design philosophy that Nissan offers on its other cars. The new Nissan Kicks is sleek and modern with its sharp LED headlamps and a larger iteration of the V-motion grille with piano black surrounds. It also gets new bumpers, updated alloys and a distinctive LED signature inside the taillights.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Interior

Interiors are largely similar to the pre-facelift global-spec model, but it features an updated infotainment system, an electric parking brake and colour-coded leather upholstery for the dashboard, seats and door pads.

The biggest change in the new Nissan Kicks, however, is the introduction of the e-Power series-hybrid powertrain. It employs an electric motor to transfer the power to the wheels, which sources power from a 1.57 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The system is constantly charged by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The combined system output is 127bhp and 260Nm of maximum torque.

New Nissan X-Trail leaked ahead of its official debut

Spy shots of the fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail have leaked online, which completely reveal its exterior and interior styling. The SUV will be showcased globally later this year.

The leaked images reveal the two-tier split-LED headlamps setup, a larger V-motion grille and a new bumper. Overall, the fascia is that of a butch SUV. Around the back, it features new LED taillights and a tweaked bumper. The boxy exteriors give it a muscular stance.

Nissan Kicks Interior

The cabin is an all-new affair with a new dashboard layout that is highlighted by a large free-standing infotainment system. It also gets a fully-digital instrument cluster and the front occupants also have an option of wireless charging. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, paddle-shifters and multiple driving modes.

Nissan Kicks Interior

As far as powertrains are concerned, we expect the fourth-gen Nissan X-Trail to continue with the existing petrol and diesel engines. Nissan is also expected to offer a hybrid powertrain at a later stage.

Nissan Kicks Exterior

Nissan is undecided on whether it will launch the new X-Trail in India. The Japanese carmaker briefly introduced the second-gen X-Trail in India between 2009-2014. If launched in India, the Nissan X-Trail will rival the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace.

New Nissan Kicks completely revealed via new spy images

– Completely reveals its front and rear design

– Expected to be launched in Thailand next month

– India launch towards the end of 2020

As the official launch of the Nissan Kicks facelift nears in Thailand, details pertaining to the mid-life update of the Japanese mid-SUV have started pouring in. In a latest round of spy shots, the front and rear design of the Kicks facelift has been completely revealed.

The Kicks facelift incorporates Nissan‘s new design philosophy, with a large iteration of the V-motion grille and sharper headlamps, which are full-LED units. There’s generous use of piano black surrounds around the grille along with chrome accents. The front bumper is a new unit, and so are the fog lamp clusters.

Nissan Kicks Facelift Exterior

As a part of the life cycle update, the Kicks will feature new five-spoke alloy wheels and chrome door handles. Meanwhile, the rear bumper is redesigned to add some sportiness to the SUV. While the taillight design hasn’t changed, we expect them to get updated LED light guides.

Powering the Thai-spec new Nissan Kicks will be a 1.2-litre HR12DE e-Power hybrid motor and probably a 1.5-litre petrol unit as well. The latter will be the mainstay for the domestic market here. The Indian version may also get a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a CVT, which will initially make its way into the Renault Duster.

The Kicks facelift was earlier expected to make its global debut in Thailand last month, but is now postponed to May due the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. That said, the updated mid-size SUV will debut in its home market (Japan) in June. As for the Indian market, the Kicks facelift could come towards the end of this year or early next year.

New Nissan Kicks e-Power leaked ahead of global debut

New Nissan Kicks e-Power leaked ahead of global debut

Earlier this week, the Nissan Kicks facelift was spotted sans camouflage in Thailand, which partially revealed its exteriors. Now, the Kicks e-Power has been spotted completely undisguised, revealing its front end.

The Nissan Kicks facelift, along with the e-Power version, was expected to make its world debut in Thailand last month. However, the COVID-19 outbreak has forced Nissan to postpone the launch to a later date (mostly May). The Kicks e-Power is expected to go on sale in its home market – Japan, in June.

As is apparent from the spy shot, the Kicks facelift will feature revised fascia that brings some freshness to the SUV. It will get sleek wraparound LED headlamps and a larger V-motion grille with gloss black surrounds and chrome accents, and a revised bumper as well. The profile looks largely similar, save for the new design alloys and chrome door handles.

Under the hood, the Thai-spec Nissan Kicks facelift is expected to get a 1.2-litre HR12DE e-Power hybrid powertrain, which is already successful in Japan. For India, Nissan will continue with the 1.5-litre petrol motor, if and when the facelift comes here. While an e-Power version is still under consideration for the Indian market, Nissan could introduce a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol motor in the Kicks.
